Preferred room and flatmate description

Hello, my name is Martin Longstaff and I am 41 years old.

I currently live in West Yorkshire, United Kingdom and plan to move to Geelong in January 2010. I currently work for the local government here in Yorkshire and I plan to either be in employment or have interviews arranged in the same field of work prior to my arrival. I will know more about my employment status nearer to my departure date.

I currently own my own home and have been in this same house for 15 years. As far as references go, I can only act as referee for myself really. I have bank statements and evidence of mortgage interest etc which can be cross referenced on request.

My short term plan when I reach Geelong is to rent in a shared house for however long it takes for me to settle into the area. As I will be on my own, I will need to start making new friends, join local activities and so on, although work is my main priority and I plan to look for full-time work. My personal interests include cycling, swimming, walking, watching football, internet, parachuting, doing things with my son of course! and meeting with friends. I don’t smoke and drink very little.

During my time living with other people prior to living independently, I believed that being in employment was essential in making sharing a success. I am not sure how I would get to know someone prior to me arriving in Geelong so as to get some idea whether we would gel. I’m imagining that some kind of correspondence in between now and then would need to develop. (Let me know what you think)

Besides my move to Geelong, I have one son, who lives here in Yorkshire. His involvement in my move will come at a later date following his studies, which will be complete September 2011. He is 16 years old at present. I will say more about other parts of my life to who ever responds to my profile.

I do have possessions which I intend shipping over, but this I hope can also be discussed.

As part of my visa requirements, I am requested to live and work in Geelong itself, so outside areas are not an option for me at present. My visa is for three years.

I hope to hear from anyone soon who thinks they might be able to accommodate me.
